Let's start with the basics...
Phone Support: If you have a "quick question" that doesn't need a remote connection to answer or solve, then all you need is a phone near your computer and your credit card information. Call 781-863-8111 and a dispatcher will arrange for a ZipGeek tech to contact you. Cost is $25 per 15-minute block or portion of 15-minute block. The minimum charge is $25. Typical things your ZipGeek tech can help with over the phone include:
- Basic system settings or configuration questions
- Assistance connecting a device such as digital camera or iPod
- Help with programs such as Microsoft Word
- Any other quick questions you may have that you haven't been able to find the answer to
Remote Support: If your issue is more complex, your ZipGeek tech can take control of your computer to assist in solving. In order to use Remote Support, you must have a high-speed Internet connection such as Cable, DSL, or FIOS and your computer must be able to see the Internet (even if running very slowly). You will need to be on a phone near your computer and have your credit card information handy.
Please note: All ZipGeek services are charged via credit card.

2. How does ZipGeek Remote Support work?
ZipGeek Remote Support works very simply. You call and schedule an appointment time at your convenience, then at the time of the appointment, a ZipGeek technician calls you and gives you exact instructions for how to connect. Here's how it goes in five easy steps:
- Your ZipGeek tech calls you on the phone at the agreed appointment time (no taking a half-day off work to wait for somebody to show up)
- You go to ZipGeek.com and click the bright yellow "Start a Remote Support session right now!" link which takes you into the ZipGeek "Terms of Use" page
- At the bottom of the page, you electronically sign the agreement by entering your name, phone number, and the last four digits of the credit card you are using to pay for your ZipGeek Remote Support Session, then click the "I AGREE" button.
- At the next screen, you enter a 6-digitcode that is provided to you over the phone by your ZipGeek tech.
- Next your ZipGeek tech will talk you through a couple onscreen instructions that finalizes the connection between the ZipGeek tech and your computer.
At that point, your ZipGeek tech has complete access to your computer as though he or she is sitting in front of it. You'll see the mouse move and windows opening and closing as your ZipGeek tech moves around your system working on solving your issues.
